Io li uso per i backup, in aggiunta a dischi fissi esterni :roll:

Non è un problema, puoi sempre fare backup su memorie flash... piuttosto il problema sarebbe collegare masterizzatori esterni BD specie su portatili. La potenza di una singola porta USB non è quasi mai insufficiente, ne servono due (e non si possono usare hub USB)... e visto che su molti portatili le porte non sono così tante la situazione potrebbe diventare antipatica...

Niente di male ad usare i DVD, per backup ed altro; come i CD, sopravviveranno ancora a lungo, con ogni probabilità.

Intendevo dire che i DVD sono obsoleti nel senso che non sono più il supporto a più grande capacità, dato che sono stati ormai ampiamente superati dai BD; e la distribuzione digitale via web dei contenuti sarà più importante ancora... 8--)

Comunque, anche i film sono ancora in larga parte su DVD, specialmente quelli delle offerte scontate nei centri commerciali.

E appunto dico che al posto dei DVD puoi usare una memoria flash: minor spazio, minor sensibilità alla luce rispetto ai DVD (ri)scrivibili che sono tutt'altro che supporti di grande durata visto che i coloranti non sono poi così stabili nel tempo... ;)

Memorie flash che per altro hanno richieste di potenza così basse da poter essere collegate tranquillamente ad un hub USB, cosa impossibile per un masterizzatore DVD o peggio ancora BD come dicevo e quindi su un portatile con porte USB limitate la cosa va tenuta in conto ;)

A quei prezzi molto meglio un SSD esterno (ammesos che si trovino con quella capacità... da 120 GB ci sono

Se non erro, gli SSD ci sono attualmente fino a ben 600 GB (anche se a questa capacità costano ancora più di mille euro).

Per gli interni no problem... a parte che si può sempre prendere un case, ovviamente con USB 3 altrimenti non ne vale la pena

Probabilmente, gli SSD esterni "preconfezionati" ci sono fino a 256-512 GB...

Per i portatili Mac, conviene comunque aspettare fino ad aprile, quando dovrebbe uscire un nuovo MacBook Air da 15 pollici:
